4 cups filtered water
2-3 inches fresh turmeric or 2-3 tbsp ground turmeric
One large cinnamon stick
1 tsp whole cloves
1 tsp cardamom pods
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp virgin coconut oil (optional)
Milk (dairy or non-dairy) (optional)
Honey to taste (optional)
In a small pot or a kettle, put water to boil
If using fresh turmeric, peel it and cut into small pieces
Put turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and pepper in water, if not boiling yet, bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer for at least 10 minutes. For stronger tea, you can simmer longer.
When finished simmering, add coconut oil. (alternately, you can also add a smaller amount of coconut oil to each cup, as desired).
Add milk and then honey, or add honey when tea has cooled enough, right before drinking.
